There will be three Rounds in the Competition.  The Junior Division will play first each day followed by the Senior Division.  Contestants will be placed in order through a random drawing by the Competition Committee.  The order of performance will change each day of the competition.  Contestants will be notified of these details prior to the competition.  Failure to appear at the specified times will eliminate contestants from the competition.

Round I - Friday, Sept. 9
Round II - Sat., Sept. 10
Round III - Sun., Sept. 11

Round I and Round II Repertoire requirements and program timeframes:

Round I:
A program of approximately 20 minutes of music.

Round II: A program of approximately 25 minutes of music
All contestants must include within Round I OR Round II a work from the:

*Baroque era
*Classical era
(one movement of a sonata is sufficient)
*20th or 21st Century (should demonstrate modern compositional techniques; should not be typically classified as Impressionistic or Late Romantic).  For example, music by Ravel or Rachmaninoff does not fulfill this requirement.  These composers may be used under “additional music” as mentioned below.
Round I may not include music of Chopin.
Round II must include music of Chopin comprising a work(s) of the contestant’s choice with a maximum of ten minutes (no minimum time requirement) with the exception of movements from the Chopin Sonatas or Chopin transcriptions.
Additional music from any historical period may be chosen to round out the competition programs within the given timeframes.

Round III
Junior Division—Any one Chopin selection from the list below OR one or more works not listed below whose timing does not exceed 10 minutes.  Chopin works from Round II cannot be repeated.  Movements from the Sonatas and Chopin transcriptions are not permitted.
