Competition
There will be Three Rounds in the Competitions, with the following requirements for each round. Competitors will play in alphabetical order on Day 1, in reverse alphabetical order on Day 2 and again in alphabetical order on Day 3. Class I pianists play first each day, with the lunch break between 12 and 1 p.m.
Round I on Friday, September 11 will begin at 10:00 a.m. Each pianist will play a program of not more than 20 minutes in length, consisting of:
One Classical Period Sonata or part thereof:
One Contemporary Period piece (20th or 21st Century).
Additional Baroque, Classical or Romantic (except Chopin) period literature to round out a program of not more than 20 minutes.
Round II will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning, September 12 and will consist of a program of not more than 25 minutes in duration of music of the contestant’s choice and any one Chopin piece.
Round III will take place on Sunday, September 13 at 10:00 a.m., and will consist of one selection from any of the following categories of Chopin for Class II pianists and any single Chopin piece (not previously played). Class I pianists are not necessarily limited to the following:
Ballade
Scherzo
Fantasy in F minor
Polonaise: Op 61, Op 22, Op 53, Op 54 & Op 44
Prelude: 1 group of 6

#13 - #18
#19 - #24
One Nocturne and Two Etudes from the following:
Nocturnes:
Op 9 No 3; Op 15 No 2; Op 37 No 2; Op 48 Nos 1 or 2; Op 62 Nos 1 or 2
Etudes:
Op 10 Nos 1, 2, 4, & 8; Op 25 Nos 6 & 11
Guest Performer
Awards will be presented immediately after judging.
