Founded more than 20 years ago, our mission is to increase and broaden opportunities for enjoyment of and participation in cultural activities. While our events have been somewhat limited in the recent past, we have been able to offer a weeklong art class for children, the Concert on the Green series and of course our premiere event, the Thousand Islands International Piano Competition for Young People. In addition, we also support Writers INK and the Breakwater Gallery in their efforts to promote the arts. We hope to do more arts related activities in the future - such as more classes for children, art classes for adults, a children’s art show, culinary arts classes and a plein aire painting event/garden show. We hope this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of our outreach. At the bottom of this page you will find a link to a membership form. We would love for you to join us in bringing the arts to Cape Vincent.
The Cape Vincent Arts Council is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to the arts and to bringing the Arts to CapeVincent.
We are pleased to announce that 2022 will mark the 25th Anniversary of the CVAC as well as the Breakwater Gallery, located on Broadway Street. It all began when a group of volunteers got together to bring a series of summer concerts to the residents and visitors of CapeVincent. The “Concert on the Green” programs were such a success that in 1997 the Cape Vincent Arts Council was established as a non-profit agency in order to obtain state and federal funding for similar programs.Originally, the Concert on the Green series was aided by NYSCA decentralization grant money. We are happy to say that we are now able to support this and other programs through donations, memberships and advertising in the concert programs.
.
In over twenty years the Council has grown to provide a whole range of art related activities for its members and the people of the Thousand Islands. We now sponsor an internationally recognized piano competition for young people, hold a town wide quilt show, provide arts programs for CapeVincent students, sponsor summer concerts on the Green, and provide a venue for poets and writers to share their works as well as other programs. We hope you will explore the website and that you will be inspired to support us with your membership and involvement.
